Singapore Wedding Experience

Last Friday (28th Sept 07), I went down to Singapore with my parents taking the "Nice" bus.It was a real nightmare cos the amount that we paid , RM66 is totally not worth it. The bus was so run-down and the food sucks! And on top of that, the bus had some kind of "fish" smell. I definitely would not recommend anyone to take this bus. I heard that the "Transtar" bus which cost around RM80 is quite good. I might want to try it the next round. I heard the chair has a massage function too. Hmmmm....

The main reason i went to Singapore this round was to attend my "niece" wedding. Yup, you got it right, "niece". She is from China, Hainan Island, 22 years old who got married to a Singaporean guy whose profession is making "Rojak". I heard his Rojak is very popular and tasty though. Apparently, one of my Singapore cousin pull the strings between both of them. He passed the photos to him (i heard the photos was during her high school years!Luckily he took a chance or never knew he hit the jackpot!) Anyway, my niece also tried passing me some photos of my other niece/ friends in China who is also looking for a husband here. However, the photos was all the close-up shots that look more like "Maid" photos! I told her to get me more natural shots rather than "Indon/Philippino" look-alike....So, the next round when i get hold of her photos i will post it here for those single and eligible men seeking China women!

My cousin, Joyce 's "HDP" flat. She let us all had the whole flat by ourselves...isnt it cool? It;s like a villa! Though it's small but very clean and comfortable!! And nice decor too, don't you think so?

This is the hallway of the house.....

Close-up shots of my cutie nephew Tristen. My bro deicded to name him after Brad Pritt character in the movie, "Legend of the Falls".

My nephew, Tristen...Isn't he cute? My mom decided to buy him some stuff animals but he chose the sunflower cos he is currently in studying in "sunflower" class....

Yup, this is my "niece" and the "Rojak" hubby.....Sigh....i'm now an "Auntie"!!

I don't know how to address them except my auntie on the far right. THe one in red shirt is my dad's bro (china) son and the wife. The older lady is the wife's mom. So this are the parent of my niece (on top).

Me giving Angpau to my "niece and the hubby at the tea ceremony session!

This is my Singapore cousin bro, Ron with his 2nd wife.

My family having our steamboat fishhead at the new "Ang Mo Kio" mall. We were at their food court there on Sunday while waiting for the wedding dinner. My dad had their "Char Keow Teow" and it was one of the worst Char Keow Teow ever cos it was SWEET!! I guess SIngaporean must come to Malaysia to taste ours and learn how to cook proper Char Keow Teow!

Joyce's son, Marcus, "the devil"....I asked him to pose in front of the "mini" casino. Yes there is a Casino right inside the shopping mall. And the best part is , it is just next to their Cinema!!

This is the mini casino, called "NTUC" club...I got a sneak peak inside and mostly it's Jackpot machine.

Whatever happen to the men??2 hardworking lady flipping the pancake....And it;s not just any normal pancake shop. It;s "durian" pancake. Yup and it;s real tasty too. The shop is called, "Four Season" and it is available at the "Ang Mo Kio" mall.

This is the front counter where everything is made out of durian....like tarts, swiss roll, cakes and cookies and etc....I think we do have one similar shop in Malaysia too in Midvalley but it didn't do well. Hmmm and i wonder why??

This is the Bride's room at the Marina Mandarin Hotel. My bro the photographer of the night with his "hi-tech" camera. My sis law all dressed up sitting on the bed with Marcus..And my niece at the back having her hair and make-up for "showdown"!

See the hours that the bride need to goes through just to look pretty for the night.....sigh....

The waitress opening act before serving the first dish!. Same like what we do here in K.L. THe only difference was they went up the stage, stood there and did a little cha-cha move towards the music.

The first dish of the night!Overall was ok...there is the slimy stuff (my favorite though cos i can chew it like rubber!), mayo shrimps, some stuff hot-dog(see the red round thing...yup that was a hot dog!!)

Ninja Jone's Experience

Hi all, sorry for the late update, i just came back from my Singapore trip today. So, haven't had the time to do some updates!Anyway, just want to share with you guys that i had the honour to help organize my business partner cum friend's birthday bash (yup another birthday bash!!) last week Wednesday(26th Sept). Well, actually it was belated...her birthday was on the 21st Sept but had to give her a chance to "romance" a bit with the bf right?Anyway, my initial plan was to celebrate it at Rakuzen restaurant at Plaza Damas cos i read very good review on it. And i even had her birthday cake figure out. She is also a cheese cake lover like me!! But where in the world can i get good cheesecake other than our normal Secret Recipe place? Decided to do some blogging, and Mei Yen's blog caught my sight when she review about the and Miki Ojisan's Cheesecake and Rakuzen. Decided to do more sleuthing and read very positive reviews from more bloggers! So, obviously, you can't go wrong with all this good review right? So, decided to try it out...They only have 2 outlets in Malaysia. One in Bangsar Village (the old one) in which it is opposite of a Thai restaurant and same row as "La Opera" cake house, right at the end. The other one is in Isetan, KLCC. Me and my bf went decided to check it out and book the cake earlier. They told us the hot selling is their original flavor, Moist Chocholate, and Peanut Butter...and i decided to go for the Moist Chocolate Cheesecake since it looks really yummy in the photos (yup they were all sold out that day!)

Unfortunately, we did not go to Rakuzen cos Laura (the birthday girl) can't make it on Thursday(which was our 1st plan) and had to change it to Wednesday .....I panicked and called up Rakuzen the room was fully book!!(There was 8 of us, so decided to have a room =more privacy). So, luckily with my quick thinking...ahemmm (yeah yeah i know, "self praise is also no praise"), i managed to get hold of a Japanese food lover to recommend a place in Midavally. He gave me a few choices through email (yup...why can't he just tell me on the phone right?). So after my last appointment of the day, i had to rushed back to check my email. And this "Ninja Jones" name just struck me as weird and funny name. I did a quick search and most bloggers gave good review about the ambience. So decided to try my luck and called for booking. Luckily the girl was kind enough to fit us in. I was a little skeptical about the food and decided to ask what kind of food they have.. she kept telling me to come over to try and said, "it's very nice, no worries". So, i took a chance and messaged everyone to go there!

When we arrived, my bf thought we went to the backdoor of the restaurant cos there was no knob or handle on the steel-looking door!! Due to my wits (ahem....), i saw a red button right at the corner in which you gotta push it to get it open automatically.. And "WOW" was my first word! It was indeed a breathe taking environment for a restaurant. It was very well decorated, with lotsa wood, stones, water concept. The most interesting part was the waiters who dressed like Ninjas! How unique....

This is the birthday girl, Laura blowing the "Miki Ojisan" cake.....and we caught her in action of closing her eyes like small girl after her birthday wish--

Ohhhh..she had to sucked up all the air to blow all candles....or her wish wont comes true! But does closing eyes help??

Isn't it mouth watering? I can't remember the dish name but it's something to do with "caterpillar sushi"

This is the sushi/sashimi set with beef....It;s quite yummy and filling for 1 person. Luckily, Laura's bf were able to finish everything!!

This is called the ninja Bento set. Trust me it is very very filling. Luckily i was sharing it with my bf. Look there's the "Caterpillar sushi". So, if you are having this set, you don't have to call any additional Caterpillar sushi!

This is Laura's bf, Dennis having his beef. We managed to catch Laura's shock face with the beef!!

The idiot face that was the the clown of the night!

Hot! Hot! Look at Laura's face...She was so scare that the waitress will accidently pour the soup on her!!

The hi-tech toilet!! Managed to get some shots of the toilet before leaving....i was quite impress!

Look...The close-up button...i saw one of the button in which you can press to wash your "backside" and blow dry it too!

Isn't it cool?? Wish i had one in my own house and i will spend hours endlessly in my bathroom. Hahahah....

Tada! Our Miki Ojisan cake.....It is chocholate moist flavor! Very very yummy. A must try for cheesecake lover. For those who is not, you should try as well cos it is very soft and fluffy.....YOu'll know what i meant when you bite into one of this baby!

Recent Birthday Bash 07'

Last Sunday(9th Sept) me and my friends went up to this restaurant up the hill. I can't really remember what is it call. Probably if my friend Chai (yep, she was the party planner on that day and intro us to this cool place) can jog my memory, i'll update you guys the name of the place. It has a great city view and furthermore it is as cold as Genting! So guys and girls, you dont have to drive up to Genting the next time you want to just get cold air. All i remember is that it was very near to Ampang. The restaurant serves Western food cooked by local chef. No offense but when you put a local chef (unless highly trained/ work in overseas restaurant) to do up Western food...well one would not go "Wow" or "Hmmmmm" about it. Get what i mean? It's cheap for Western food compare to if you were to dine in Chilli's or Outback Steakhouse. But then again, it's quality Vs price issue. Anyway, if you are willing to put away your tastebud, the whole dining experience up the hill is really romantic and breathe-taking. The next time you go, bring your best camera and a tripod to capture the city view. I missed out on that, thus i only capture photos of us having a good time....

It was so windy and had to cover the cake with "home-made" PVC cover. And the birthday girl had to blow the candle from on top. It was a weird scenario....Oh, and the restaurant put a "Happy birthday" cheap kind of song at the background while bringing the cake out. So could you imagine how embarrass we were? If they done something like T.G.I Fridays or Hard Rock, in which they sing it live...then it'll be more fun!

See the wooden clothes hanger clip that they use to clip the plastic cover together? Well, you do have to applaud them for creativity....

The birthday girl busy cutting and "sawing" over the overcooked spring chicken!

This was the food that i order...not so delicious...it was so suppose to be fillet combo (prawns, chicken and fillet)

Our girls group photo with 2 Maggi Chilli sauce and an empty carrot juice...Oh so healthy...hahahah...A girl gotta keep their figure & complexion, right?. Any single guys out there for my single gal friends? This is your opportunity to pick em'!

The guys turn now...well except my friend Chai..Hmmm...why are you there? Hmmm..makes you wonder whether Chinese guys when they turn 30, they will have that "uncle look" ...The one on center is married and is 30++ and the one on the left is very much eligible but is 30. Similarity anyone? So my conclusion is whether you are married/ single, once you turn the BIG 3, that is how you guys will look like!

Oopps...sorry guys...there were 2 more guys on that night..The guy on the far right came well prepared with the weather and the one on the left was wearing the Steven Gerard's jersey..Hope i'm correct cos i;m not much of a football fan although my bf insist me to support Liverpool!

And, all of you guys may have notice by now that my pattern of blog is to end with the last picture and comment. Yep, and this was the cake we bought for our dear birthday girl. Just to let you know that it was really delicious and you can get it from "Bread Story" (too bad i dont get paid advertising their brand name...). For those who are sick and tired of Secret Recipe and want to try an alternative...think Bread Story. So far, No complains, only "Ooooh La La"

Vampy's Great Discovery!!

Hi all...thought of sharing with you my favorite dessert other than my love for cheesecake. Alot of you Malaysian who love egg tarts will surely know of the the name " Tong Kee" tarts. Well, they have no doubt created a great name for themselves and position as the best of egg tarts. Me and my friends thought so too. We would drive all the way to Sri Petaling just to have that 2 bites of tarts. But recently, i discovered another place in which the egg tarts is way better than "Tong Kee". The shop name is called "H.K Miu Kai" It is a little bit more expensive. Tong Kee cost your RM 1.10/pc and H.K Miu Kai cost about RM 1.60/pc. But it is worth every penny of your money. It is richer and softer than "Tong Kee" . Once you bite into the tarts, the egg practically melt into your mouth! No exaggeration here ok. So far all my friends, clients and even supplier that i introduced to try this have given VERY good feedback about it! Where can you find this place? Well, my friend, unfortunately you can only get this savory tarts at Sri Petaling, behind "Tong Kee" and next to a Middle East restaurant called "Al-Diafah". And recently they opened one in Kepong, along the road of HSBC, opposite of Carrefour.

This is the pastry chef in charge of all the egg tarts, "po lo" pau and "Char siu so" and etc.....

This are the hot delicious egg tarts after being baked in the oven

Ta da.... This is the close up shots of how it looks like hot from the oven. Doesn't it look yummy...Highly recommended...MUST try!! Best to eat instantly when it is still hot....

The staff busy applying the sesame on the "Char Siew So"( Pork pastry...hope i translated correctly...) This is another one of their famous pastry. Also highly recommended. Once taste you will never forget!! HAhahaha....Cost around RM1.90/pc

Ta da....my close- up photo of how it looks like...Isn't it yummy.....This one can be kept over night. So it does make a great gift to your far far away friends/relatives who happen to come to K.L to visit you.

Just have a look out for this signage " Hong Kong Miu Kai" . Oh yeah the girl pastry chef on top told me her master was from Hong Kong who also own part of the restaurant. So the food and pastry is top notch recipe from Hong Kong itself. Feel free to drop in to have a try...Oh and another MUST try pastry is their "Ham Tan PO LO" pau (Salty egg). Unfortunately i was not able to capture the photo here cos' they haven't made it when i was there. They open only at 11am. But you got to buy it as early as possible cos the 3 items are the most hot selling. Usually by 6pm, most of their hot selling pastries are gone.

Vampy's Wedding Experience....

My dear readers... after weeks and weeks of not updating my blog and even got a complaint from my close friend for being lazy...I finally sat in front of my laptop and discipline myself to do some updates. Well, first of all i would like to share some of the model photos taken during our recent participation at a wedding fair held at Equotorial Hotel. Well, let me put it this way..... We had to sit through 1 hour x 2 session per day x 2 days event looking at the models doing their catwalk for their designer's wedding gown. And i can tell you, it was not a pleasant experience. There were moments i felt like strangling the models. There were even fat models! Surprisingly, next to our booth was a slimming centre booth!I wonder whether any of the sales girl approached the "fat" models to sign up for their slimming course. WEll have fun guys and drop me a vote or comment at my new "chat box" of what you think of em".........

This one looks like a man! Such angry face for a model..Guess she wants to act like the one in America Next Top model!

This is the fat one that needs to go for slimming course...Can you see her stomach bulging out??Not that i'm against big size model..and i'm neither keen on thin stick model either...but she errmmm...I think it must be the dress!!! HELP....

Here comes the stiff model. I could have swear that a turtle walks faster than her! She was so "robotic" when she walk, i could just sign her up for the robot dance competition. And she can easily walk away with 1st price....

And here comes another "oversize model that looks like the famous Japanese horror flick, "Ju-on". Remember the scene where the women came crawling out from the TV...

This is her back part of it....similarities??

This is the most presentable of them all...dont you think so? But dress was ugly and outdated!

And the conclusion of the day is....????I've said enough of negative things, so your comments are welcome....Let me summarize by a group photos of all the models of the 2 days event! YES, it was the same models over and over again for the 2 days event!!!Anyway let's still applaud for courage of doing the catwalk in front of millions...ooops 10 person of the day(yeah bad turn out, or was it???)...so drum rolls please......

Not a very good photo take though....it's because of my colleague's camera...either that he just doesnt have the skill...Hmmmm...If you are reading this, please dont kill me after this. HAhaha...
